People are asking if trainers are certified more these days than ever. Why? There is a glut of unprofessional unqualified and extremely unsafe people teaching an already hazardous sport. AAHS addresses the issue of educating trainers and ranch staff to the hazards of our industry and how to protect yourself from accidents and lawsuits. This program has vital information for your non riding staff as well. Although unlike other certifications that rely on written tests and video tapes candidates must pass a riding test along with written exams to be certified.
The clinic includes basic negligence law, liability theory, procedure manual preparation, Secure Seat<sm> method of teaching, mounted and ground exercises and games, and lesson plan construction and use.
Participants will gain a basic understanding of negligence law and how it applies to the riding instructor, wrangler, or facility owner/manager. They will learn the Secure Seat<sm> method, which is a highly defensible method for understanding the horse/rider dynamic and effectively balancing a rider safely on a horse. Participants will gain knowledge of the differences between teaching beginners and experienced riders and between teaching children and adults. The clinic will cover the basics for writing a procedures manual as well as writing lesson plans and the basics for writing an entire lesson program. Participants will learn how to teach skills through games and exercises. Class management skills and teaching issues will also be covered.
